AP African American Studies Is the First New AP Humanities Course in a Decade
AP African American Studies launched as a pilot in 2023 and became widely available for the 2024-2025 school year. The course examines the history, culture, politics, and intellectual traditions of African Americans from the origins of the African diaspora through contemporary movements for justice and equity. It is the first new AP humanities course introduced in over a decade.
The exam tests interdisciplinary knowledge spanning history, literature, political science, sociology, and the arts. Students must analyze primary sources, evaluate historical arguments, and connect past events to present-day realities. The exam rewards depth of understanding — you need to know not just what happened but why it matters and how scholars have interpreted it.
Our AP African American Studies practice test delivers 60 questions covering all four course units. Every answer includes a detailed explanation. The cost: $49.99. Retests: $25.00.
This is an independent practice test. It is not produced by or affiliated with the College Board. AP is a registered trademark of the College Board.

- B) trans-Saharan gold and salt trade networks

- C) 1 to 2 million
